Case Study Examples Prompt

Our client is one of the world’s leading consumer packaged goods producers. They are going to launch a new product and need to decide which of two alternative methods to use to go to market. One is the “direct store” system, the other is “warehouse delivery.”

Which one should they choose?

Case Overview

The client is a CPG producer looking to launch a new product. You’ve been brought in to consult the company on the go-to-market method: direct store, or warehouse delivery. Your job in the case is to dig into the two scenarios and determine which method will be most profitable for the client.

Use the Profitability Framework to create your structure for the case, but don’t stop at the Profitability Framework. Use your business acumen and experience, plus your frameworks know-how to create a “super-structure” tailored to the specifics of the business problem in the case.

The case has 1 chart needing to be interpreted. Overall, the case has a qualitative difficulty of 3 out of 4, making this a case you could expect in a BCG 2nd round.

Interview Tips: BCG

BCG is looking for 2 things in candidates: high-level structure, and clear communication of that structure.

To make the most out of your practice, focus on timing yourself as you go through the case: 4min to build and present your structure, 5min for math, 2min for brainstorming, 2min for final recommendation.
