Our client is an investment company of UAE’s government and wants to invest in an upstream oil & gas equipment and services high-tech start-up.

They are a holding company and have acquired companies in the past across different industries without any strategy in mind.

The investment should be in the order of billions of dollars, very profitable and growing. The client wants to have a global footprint but above all bring benefits to Middle East. He wants to invest in upstream, which refers to exploration and production of oilfields.

Should he do so and how? Please give me a brief overview of how you would approach the problem.

Case Overview

This is a Bain case study to help you get ready for your second round interview. In this case, your client is an investment company looking to bring profits to the Middle East through investments in oil industry. The client has come to you seeking advice and guidance about the next acquisition. They have invested in the past without a strategy and don’t want to do that again. It’s your job to dig deep, do your research and help them come up with a plan.
