I just thought I'd share an update with you.  I recently accepted a role with Deloitte as a senior consultant, specializing in operations.  Deloitte offered a great package, and it was an easy choice for me. I wanted to give a big thanks to you for really honing both my case and fit interview skills.

The CAR method was useful and I kept it in mind at all times when answering follow-up questions. They asked questions that I simply didn't expect, but because I had a repository of experiences, I was able to accentuate the right aspect.

In casing, my interviewers all complimented me on keeping them apprised of my current thinking. That really seemed to help out and made the conclusion basically a formality. In retrospect, I think fit interview performance was equally important as case, and our sessions prepared me quite well.

I got a McKinsey offer thanks to Lisa and Management Consulted!  What a FIVE STAR service! Because Lisa is an ex-McKinsey consultant, she knows the kind of responses they are looking for and how to rock the interviews.  Lisa coached me on exactly how to organize my thoughts and most importantly, craft a coherent response so that I sounded like a pro.  A typical session would look like this:  I would first attempt a case study (so that I at least get to try on my own), and then Lisa would proceed with a sample response.  This method of teaching proved to be very effective.  The best part of my sessions is that Lisa went SEVERELY overtime to address all of my questions.  Also, with MC’s gigantic bank of questions, I was able to prepare for practically any type of case you can imagine.  Overall, I felt my coaching sessions were worth every penny.  I couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

I attended your consulting case prep course at Ohio State last Sunday. I am currently a senior student who has no background in consulting and wanted to see if I could gain any useful insights from your prep course. Until a few days ago, I wasn’t seriously considering consulting because I was never really sure if I could land a consulting interview and wasn’t sure if time investment into case studies would even be worth it. I still applied/networked with a number of firms anyway. I have 3-4 consulting interviews coming up in the next week and a half! Possibly more in the future. I was able to start your prep course videos this week and found the content immensely helpful in gaining comfort in the structures and foundation from scratch. I wanted to reach out and say thank you. I appreciate this free resource and without it, I would have had to turn to reading a book which is a far higher time commitment in my situation.

Accelerated Bain AC offer

I don’t know if you remember, but we met when I attended a consulting workshop at my school. Afterwards, I used that info as well as the structure and math drills to land an accelerated AC offer from Bain (I didn’t have an exploding return offer and was rejected pre-interview from the internship position - they invited me because I did well in practice cases).

I can’t emphasize enough how random my background looks (biology major with a few internships in academia and tech). Being deliberate about improving my math, crafting my “story,” plus having two 1-on-1 sessions made a huge difference.

I just thought I'd share an update with you.  I recently accepted a role with Deloitte as a senior consultant, specializing in operations.  Deloitte offered a great package, and it was an easy choice for me. I wanted to give a big thanks to you for really honing both my case and fit interview skills.

The CAR method was useful and I kept it in mind at all times when answering follow-up questions. They asked questions that I simply didn't expect, but because I had a repository of experiences, I was able to accentuate the right aspect.

A colleague of mine who I am working with to secure a consulting offer this cycle recently reached out to me in excitement that he heard my voice on the Resume Review episode on Strategy Simplified (S9E17). I just wanted to let you know that this report is really having an impact in the industry, and the higher-ups at consulting firms are clearly reading it closely. I just got a phone call from a head recruiter at a top firm (not the recruiter I’ve been working with), to let me know that my base salary will be adjusted from $170k to $175k, and that my year end bonus will be adjusted from 15-20% to 15-25%.

What I found most helpful about the resume editing was that it started out very broad and as we worked more and more on it, I was eased into correcting the smaller nit-picky things. For example, during the first edit, we nailed down things like formatting and general ideas that I wanted the resume to present. Salary report leading to higher offer

I just wanted to let you know that this report is really having an impact in the industry, and the higher-ups at consulting firms are clearly reading it closely. I just got a phone call from a head recruiter at a top firm (not the recruiter I’ve been working with), to let me know that my base salary will be adjusted from $170k to $175k, and that my year end bonus will be adjusted from 15-20% to 15-25%.

I thought it was very interesting that this recruiter called me, when she could have just emailed me, since I already accepted the offer. I also think it’s very interesting that this happened right after you released your report.

I have subscribed and watched almost all YouTube videos, I have listened to almost every Strategy Simplified episode, I purchased the Case Library to practice casing, I used tools like the Math Drills to practice mental math, and I have utilized the website to its full capability when prepping for interviews, creating cover letters or networking emails, reading about firms, and so on. It was not a quick, easy, or straightshot journey for me, but the hard work did pay off, and I was able to secure a full-time consulting offer from EY-Parthenon for their Life Sciences Strategy and Transactions practice. There is a lot I can reflect on about the entire process, including many things I would do differently, which I try to express to others I speak with who are going through the ringer now. But I truly believe I have Management Consulted to thank for getting me to the level I needed to receive that offer. The wealth of information and training you provide free of charge is invaluable and was incredibly helpful for me. Management Consulted is the first website I recommend to anyone interested in or committed to breaking into consulting. I appreciate everything Management Consulted stands for, and I just wanted to share that feedback with you all. I look forward to joining the consulting industry this August, and I will always keep Management Consulted in high regards when speaking on my journey and interacting with future, aspiring consultants.

I attended your consulting case prep course at Ohio State last Sunday. I am currently a senior student who has no background in consulting and wanted to see if I could gain any useful insights from your prep course. Accelerated Bain AC offer

I don’t know if you remember, but we met when I attended a consulting workshop at my school. Afterwards, I used that info as well as the structure and math drills to land an accelerated AC offer from Bain (I didn’t have an exploding return offer and was rejected pre-interview from the internship position - they invited me because I did well in practice cases).

I can’t emphasize enough how random my background looks (biology major with a few internships in academia and tech). Being deliberate about improving my math, crafting my “story,” plus having two 1-on-1 sessions made a huge difference.

I just did the meatiest part of a summer program at a top firm and I must say, Strategy Sprint really prepped me well and helped me stand out as a top performer on my team for the workshop. Here are the things Strategy Sprint helped me with:

1. We were asked to individually come up with a one-page exec summary. Everyone else on my team wrote very comprehensive one-page reports in Word. I was the only one who made a slide with bullet points using the pyramid principle and 80/20 rule.

2. When our project leader asked each of us how we approached making the exec summary, I had the approach that's most similar to what the PL said they do at at the firm: make a framework, think of the high level story (The "what", "why" and "how"), and then breaking it into modules/bullet points.

3. I was constantly leading and pushing my team to think of how to tell our story and to trim off less-relevant materials when we had to assemble a deck.

4. I volunteered to present the whole story after the deck was done and everyone liked the way I did it.
