Case Study Prompt

The client is Terrific Tennis plc., the UK’s leading owner/operator of fitness centers. Like most fitness centers, these usually include a gym, pool, spa, sauna, tennis courts, and a crèche for children. The centers are located mostly in suburban areas and provide parking for members.

The client has been extremely successful in the UK, and is considering an expansion into Continental Europe (and in particular, Germany).

What six pieces of information would you want to understand when considering this expansion?

Case Study Overview

The client in this case study is a UK fitness center owner/operator looking to expand its business into other parts of Europe. Consulting cases such as this require you to look at the market, competitors, and other factors to determine the viability of the market entry. Go or no-go?

The Market Study Framework is a good place to start when thinking about your structure for the case. Keep in mind to work outside the basic case frameworks and incorporate your own business and case experience into the framework you create. Be creative!

This case is an advanced level case (one of many consulting cases like it in the Case Library) – use it as your prep for your case interviews. There are no case math diagrams to analyze and interpret inside the case.

OC&C Case Interview Tips

OC&C prizes common sense and down-to-earth business sense in its case interview candidates.

Fancy business jargon won’t earn you any favor in the eyes of an OC&C interviewer.

Get the most out of the case by timing yourself as you walk through the case. Timing guidance: 2min to build framework and 2min to present it; 2min each for a creative question; 2min for presentation.
