The University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management focuses on experiential learning. Students have the opportunity to practice real-world, complex business problems, as well as global projects through hands-on experiences. Students have the opportunity to experience four different Enterprise programs,  Consulting, Brands, Ventures, and Funds. In there enterprise programs students act as consultants, analyzing  challenges and creating value driven results for real clients.

A global approach is at the core of the school’s curriculum. They require each graduate student to integrate an international experience into their studies. Termed “the Global Discovery Program,” this class covers topics that have an impact on businesses globally, and the last two-weeks include an international experience.

In addition to the  full-time and part-time MBA, the school also offers an executive MBA, a PhD program, and specialized graduate degrees, including Human Resources and Industrial Relations, Accounting, and Taxation. There are also joint degrees offered through the School of Public Health, Public Affairs, the Medical School, the Law School, and the College of Pharmacy.
