Caltech is a world-renowned science and engineering institute that brings together some of the world’s most brilliant minds and cutting-edge technology to solve basic scientific questions and pressing societal issues.

The Institute manages JPL for NASA, which sends probes to explore the planets of our solar system and measure changes on Earth. Caltech also owns and operates large-scale testing facilities including the Seismological Laboratory and a global network of astronomical observatories including the Palomar and W. M. Keck Observatories, as well as cofounding and comanaging LIGO.
