Bain & Company was founded and still headquartered in Boston, MA. The firm is included as one of the “Big Three” management consultancies (MBB), and as such, is also one of the most prestigious employers in the industry. Founded in 1973, the firm grew rapidly, and Bill Bain turned the alternative investment side of the house into Bain Capital. Since the early 2000s, the firm has developed a huge practice working with private equity firms. Bain & Company has expanded and created additional practice areas, primarily focused on working with technology companies and nonprofits.
