Firm History

GLG was founded in 1998 as the Gerson Lehrman Group in New York City, initially functioning as a publishing company specializing in reports for investors on sector-specific information, primarily in healthcare and technology. The firm expanded past those fields in 2001, and in 2003 opened its first international office in London. In the past, GLG offered a $5000 diversity scholarship to underrepresented groups to help a student get through their bachelor’s degree more smoothly, and also pairing them with a GLG employee as a mentor throughout the school year.

The consensus on work-life balance and overall culture at GLG is that it’s positive and well balanced, but leadership isn’t always as involved or helpful as it could be.
